Having a Rough Day!

Sometimes you just want to curl up under the blankets and pretend everything is just a bad dream…it will all go away when you wake up!  Today is one of those days!!!

I'll Never Give Up

Though life may be unkind
And knock me around for a while
Though I may get a few bruises
And carry some permanent scars
I won't let it defeat me
I'll never give up
Though life may leave me crumbled
Weeping on the floor
The tears I cry today
Will be gone tomorrow
I'll stand up with new strength
With courage in my stubborn heart

Refusing to stay down
This isn't the first time
Life tried to bring an end to me
Nor is this the first time
I fought to survive
I've experienced being crushed
Many times in this life I live
Only causing me to rise again
To defiantly stare life in the face
Letting it know
That I will never give up
Life can hurt me
And kick me while I'm down
The bruises will heal
And the scars will fade with time
While I'll rise once again
To laugh in the face of life
Daring it to try again
Because I'll never give up

Things I’ve Been Working On

I have had this intense need to craft lately.  With little money for extras around the holidays I have been searching high and low around the house for things to create.  Here’s what I came up with…it doesn’t compare to some of the wonderful things I have seen all of you ladies in prim world create but I am happy with them. Thanks for looking!

*a couple of paper mache boxes I jazzed up

*scrap 2x4 I mod podged

*gingerbread and snowmen ornies I made

* a small Tea can that I added a grunged up window candle, greenery, pips finished with a  bow.

* an old flour sifter that I found in a out building (original rust…lol) added grunged window candle, greenery, gingerbread, candy canes, and pips

* a replica tea pot that I bought at a yardsale this summer. added a twiggy tree, snowman ornies, homespun, pips, rusted bells, and topped with a salt dough star.

* Snowmen made out of mens socks (filled with scented rice) clove eyes nose and buttons, ,rafia, homespun, button and wire arms.

I plan on giving some away as gifts and probably will keep the rest!

I fed the need to create and had lots of fun!

I also received my APP xmas swap package this week…check out all of my goodies!  Thanks Juanita from It’s Harvest Time…it’s been fun!

My baby girl turned 2 and my RAK from Kristine

On Monday my baby girl turned 2…it is bittersweet!    My husband and I always wanted 4 children but with this economy and with the 3 children we already have we have decided Claire will be our last.  She  is the greatest little girl!  She is so sweet and loving with a touch of tomboy!  She takes flying leaps from furniture (she knows NO fear), gets dirty from head to toe, and likes to cuddle and watch Sesame Street.  She is my baby and always will be.   It really amazes me how unique each child is.  I love watching them grow and blossom…just wish it didn’t happen so fast!

She hated everyone staring at her…she would not SMILE!

This morning I got up did a load of laundry, threw dinner in the crock pot and then my sick baby awoke. She came down the stairs this morning and said "Mommy, where's eye?"(she just turned 2 on Monday). She started complaining of her ear hurting yesterday and her eye started gooping up last night. She woke up this morning with her eye completely matted shut. She has been fighting a cough and congestion for about 2 weeks...I think it's time to go the pedi. After wiping the goopy eye and fixing her breakfast, the mail came. I just assumed it was my xmas swap package...until I looked at the address. Then I thought...did I sign up for another swap that I forgot about ??? I opened the box and it was some wonderful goodies from Kristine! While unwrapping my wonderful goodies it brought a tear to my eye. How very Kind of her to brighten my day!  Thank You Kristine!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just need to vent!

Oh, it never ends! My husband got laid off and we got really far behind on bills. A little over a year ago we filed bankruptcy and lost our house. We then moved into his grandmothers house as a last alternative. Her health was failing so she moved in with my mother in law...and we would rent her house with the intent to later purchase once we got back on our feet. Well, This year has NOT been our year. My husbands has been lucky to get 30 hrs. this year...my pt job got cut. Just last month I had to go and apply for food assistance. Fighting every month to keep utilities on, food on the table, and gas in the car is so draining! We have not been able to pay our rent. His grandmother and my mother in law understand how much trouble we are having...they are having trouble of their own. Well, last night the bottom fell out of the bucket! My mother in law came over and told us that her sister is very unhappy and saying that all of us are taking advantage of her mom and that she is giving us till march and then she is kicking us out. Mind you this is my husbands aunt...she is going to kick our family of 5 out. Seriously...all of this just makes my head hurt. With the holidays among us it is even more nerve racking! I feel so sick to my stomach...I want to cry...I want to scream...I just want everything to go away. I am at a loss! Just please pray for our family and keep your fingers crossed that things start to look up.

Happy Holidays!

How to transfer inkjet images to wood

I came across this tutorial this morning and thought it was pretty clever!  I’m gonna have to give it a try
How to transfer inkjet images to wood

woodtransferstep1.jpg

Here we go! This is what you'll need. Mod Podge, Elmer's washable glue, and a piece of cardstock.

Step 1: Brush the Elmer's glue onto the cardstock in a nice smooth layer.

Make sure you cover the area where you will be printing. Let it dry.

Step 2: With an inkjet printer, print an image onto the glue side of the cardstock.

Step 3: Brush a smooth, thin layer of Mod Podge onto the wood.

Step 4: Stick your image face down onto the wet Mod Podge. Press and smooth to make sure the image has good contact with the wood. Let it dry OVERNIGHT. Don't peek too soon!

woodtransferstep7.jpg

Step 5: Soak it. You can dunk it in water, run it under a faucet, or squirt it with a spray bottle. Let the cardstock get really wet and soft. Gently peel off the cardstock. I held this under running water while I peeled it. You can gently rub the image with your finger tip to loosen any remaining paper pulp.

Step 6: Voila! And no plasticky decal edges! The Elmers washes away completely. Totally smooth!

Any Suggestions???

I found a few things in my neighbors barn this weekend.  I thought they could be used for something, just don’t know what…any suggestions?

1(back) & 2(front) is some type of landing or plat form…it is heavy and made with treated lumber…I think.

3 is a panel that fits inside of an old screen door and a cut off ladder.

4(top) & 5(bottom) is a drop leaf card table top…that is missing one side.

Any suggestions of how I can repurpose these items??  I just couldn’t let them go to the burn pile!

Have a Happy Hump Day!

Is this Winterberry?

I was telling my husband about winterberry and told him to be on the look out for it. He brought this home today from work. He says there is the motherload of it at work. It is pretty....just not sure if it's winterberry? Can you Winterberry experts let me know??

Lookin for NO Sew Primitive ornies ideas.

I am starting to get the christmas itch...even though money is really really tight this year. I think for my family and many others out there, this christmas will be more like an "Old Time" Christmas. Many gifts will be homemade and with lots of love! I would like to make some primitive ornies for myself and for family. I would like to remind people it's not about the money it's the simple things in life that bring us joy. I can't sew, so if you have any no sew ornies please pass them along.

VERY FEW TOYS this year...
The crazy thing is my children don't play with toys. They don't get toys except for birthdays and christmas, and maybe thats the reason they don't get played with. Every year I feel guilty so I go all out and buy all kinds of toys and they get played with for about a week or 2 and thats the end of them. My kids love to craft! They will sit for hours coloring and painting etc. That is why I think this year I am going to put together a craft chest together for each one of them. They will love it and it will keep them busy for hours! I am looking for any other budget gift ideas if you have any to pass along.

Happy Hump Day!

Two Witches and a Wizard!

Hello All!
Well, the kids went Trick or Treating last night, they looked so cute! Claire will be 2 next month and she insisted on walking the whole time. She wouldn't let people put her treats in her bucket she had to take them from their hands and put in her bucket herself. I think she was taking a mental inventory of it all...lol. Addisyn my 7 year old was a very cute witch...I loved how her costume came together! Tanner was eating candy as fast as he was getting it so I had to pull him over to the side and remind him that there bad people in the world and mommy and daddy have to check all his candy. All in all it was a nice evening to trick or treat!

And as promised here is the pictures of the goodies I got the other day.

$25 for the hutch. With a little tlc and paint it will make a perfect place to display more prims.

The window was $15 it measures 24in. wide by 53 in. long. I think it would be perfect for a window cupboard! Just don't think hubby will get around to that anytime soon. The wooden rake thingy (tech, name??) was $20. If you have one I would love to see how you have displayed it.
I'm hoping to work on the hutch this weekend...so excited. I am trying to put together my primitive wish list, but there are sooo many things! I hope to post it soon.
Have a GREAT weekend!

A few more auction and Goodwill finds.

Just wanted to share a few more of my finds. The past couple of weeks I have found some good stuff at auctions and Goodwill.

This is a print $4.59 I found at Goodwill, it is signed and numbered 689/1000. I really like the print! Just need to frame it! Then there 2 little pillows $1 and wire basket .29. I thought they would come in handy.

(Sorry really bad pic)
Then we have a little window shelf .89, Kraft cheese box $2, a goose looking thing free, a cutting board the has been painted black $1.49, a mail holder .89 and a giant clothes pin .89. The little window shelf has 2 pegs and a heart cut out in the center, I've gotta find some way to cover up the heart. I'll probably put some pips etc. in the Kraft box. Goose, I'm not sure yet. Cutting board I'd like to paint as a game board, just gotta cover up that dang heart. I'll just find a place in my laundry room for the giant clothes pin. The mail holder I'll probably repaint, not sure if I'll keep it. Any suggestions on how to cover up the hearts??

Pussywillow basket $1, wooden bowl and paddle $13, 2 sconces $1.89 1 is already primmed up just needs stained, 2 candle sticks $1, a whimsical rooster .69, a rocking horse .59 that looks hand carved, a rolling pin $3, and a wooden candle box $1.49.

2 Crocks and a bowl ( for all 3 I spent abour $50), a corn husk doll free, a small bottle free , and a really old oak mirror $5.

Sorry if I've bored you with everything. I think all in all I have gotten some good treasures. Today is my birthday so I asked the hubby to take me to the antique shops. Hopefully I'll have more to show soon!

Thanks for looking!

Just a few bargains!

Well, I was driving down the road on a Thursday afternoon when I came upon a few cars parked along the road. It peeked my curiosity, so I turned down this little side street. It was a last minute auction! The owners were moving and needed to sale their stuff asap. Since it was 4pm on a Thursday not many people showed. Good for me, right?! I was able to score a few goodies and would like to show them to you.

I paid $10 for all!!! The sampler and crock pic was $8 and the most exciting thing I got the chandelier for $2, can you believe it TWO BUCKS?! The candle stick on the right has some white paint that runs down on the tin. I'm gonna try to take some paint remover and scrub it off. It does work and for $2 I could not pass it up!!! I just LOVE auctions!

Well, I'm gonna start trying to become a regular blogger. I love reading other blogs and getting inspired by everyones great finds and craftiness. So please check back for more!

Thanks for visiting! ~Heather
